Ata Road Case
Best way to transport a guitar?
I look forward to return my e-guitar with me on the College, but there I am with the plane. I have a Road Runner hard case but I'm not sure if it would be wise to check it or take it as carry on luggage stowed in which case they would be below the level. I can not say if it is approved ATA ... I do not think it is, but I'm not sure. Is there a high risk to the transport the guitar in a non-ATA approved case?
I can guarantee you that your Road Runner case is not approved ATA. To Get the ATA 300 rating (the most common), the case has failed to a certain number of consequences and drop, without locks or hinges, or stand up punching something. The "300" means that the case is expected to last 300 airplane rides in the trunk on. They are expensive (about $ 300 and above) and heavy (30 pounds empty and up). If you travel a lot are they worth the investment. If you can take on, how to take the guitar, then do. It's going to have to be able to stow in the overhead compartment (and people will throw things at her store for as long as possible). If you have ATA case even considered checking a guitar in a not, then you might as well put It in your driveway and run over twice ... that is what will get you on the other end. And unless you work extra sign paper and extra pay for the insurance, is the only airline you will be about 60 cents per pound for damage! If there is someone at your destination, accept that it can, are you better off supply it there. Take it in the case to the UPS Store (or FedEx Kinkos), they grab it, take the insurance, and send it further. Good luck. Greetings from Austin, Tx Ken
