French Horn compression of the tube?

Hello I was wondering how I can test the compression valves. Also if holes. I am thinking of rebuilding the valve, and my conn 8d M series was purchased a few months ago and was instrumental in the school. I like how he plays but I feel like there are things to do. The valves are one of them. So if there is any evidence of valves please let me know. Thanks

If you like how to play you just might want to leave him alone. Anything you do will change the way he plays, perhaps something that does not like. Check the compression by pulling the valve distribution part, wait one or two seconds and then press the button, because the air is filled with partial vacuum caused by pulling the slide you should hear a good "processor." If no noise when you press the air valve leaks around the compression valve and that's bad. Another way to check is just slowly remove the valve cover. It must get harder as you pull the vacuum, if it is all the way to be "pop."
