The History and development of the Vintage Microphones

The early 1930s saw the film industry to try new technologies to save musical scores. However, the range of microphones offered was low. In came the MGM studios in Culver City, California, to try the newly cardioid invented taken by the Siemens Co, Germany. It has been used to make "Naughty Marietta" with the likes of Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy.

The dynamic or condenser microphones were much smaller than the Siemens version of the cardioid microphone. There was a constant effort made to reduce the size microphones to facilitate its use.

James Cannon of Cannon Electric Co. in Los Angeles, CA, said of setting up a connector for the microphone. Its creation was a 6-pin connector which later became the prototype P-type connector, which proved to be an instant success. Connector for 3 drivers camera cable was made so that put plug Cannon history from 1929.

Mason and Marshall Bell Laboratories has made a plan a tubular microphone in 1939. The design has been used as a single element and acoustic tubes of different sizes. He contributed collection of music directional. The tubular design was the forerunner of modern pickups.

Electret Condenser Microphone is a part vintage microphones because it has a history dating back to 1928. It uses polarized wax plates. Bogen available commercially such as the voltage Velotron. War World has seen the development of electret microphones wax. The Japanese used in their field devices. However, they do not become very popular because of instability.

In 1962-1965 electret microphones got their membrane a thin sheet of mylar foil or Teflon. Sony, in 1968, then created the best electret condenser microphone. This too has now moved into vintage microphones.
