iPod represents a wide range of mobile media players are designed and sold by Apple Inc. It was released for the first time in October 2001. iPod models generally cover Digital Audio players with a central click wheel iPod Shuffle that uses various buttons because of its small size. iPod Nano, a fifth generation, was launched in September 2006. This led to discontinuation of iPod mini, which stores data in an internal Hard Drive. iPod Nano and Shuffle use flash type memory of a smaller size. These devices also act as an external data storage medium.
The iPod has been inspired by the shortcomings of existing digital music players, who were not physically compact and user interface were not very friendly. Apple met a group of engineers and within a year, unveiled the iPod. It was released as a product that was compatible with Macintosh with a 5 GB hard drive. Apple used PortalPlayer `s reference of their software. The company Pixo helped iPod for the development of user interface. But these were refined by Apple after development. The name of the device as the iPod "" was proposed by Vinnie Chieco, a freelance copywriter. Coincidentally, Apple had registered the name of `internet kiosks," but never used for this end.
iPod can run MP3, M4A/AAC, AIFF, Protected AAC, Audible Audio book and WAV format. It also introduced the ability to view images PNG, TIFF, GIF, BMP and JPEG. The 5th generation models can even play MPEG 4. From 2nd generation model, the software also began working Windows, along with Macs. It `s doesn` t support Microsoft WMA format. WMA and MIDI files can be changed through iTunes, a service provided by Apple through which you can view and download the latest songs and movies on your portable device. iPods with color displays use texts and graphics are anti-aliased and sliding animations. The operating system is stored in a storage medium of the dedicated device. Each player device has 32 MB of Ram, but subsequent have 64 MB of Ram. Most of the songs used by the cache storage medium.
Apple also added PDA type functionality for text files that can be viewed and an address book can be maintained through a computer. Additionally, some games are also built like bricks included. In the fifth generation iPod, the screen brightness can be adjusted and games can be downloaded from the iTunes Store. For models of first and second generation and as Nano and Shuffle, lithium polymer batteries are used internally and for third-generation models and fifth internal lithium batteries are used. Initially, iPod comes with a FireWire connection for charging the device but with the introduction of multiple USB ports, they became obsolete. Recent iPod models can be loaded USB 2.0.
Many accessories, including third parties, have been made for the iPod. Some additional accessories developed by Apple recorders, tuners FM radio, Remote Control and audio-visual cables for television. Other accessories are external speakers, protection cases, and wireless headphones. Third manufacturing most of these accessories are Griffin Technology, Belkin, Bose, and SendStation. BMW was the first car company to launch a car iPod interface, thus allowing newer vehicles to control iPod through steering wheels. Later Apple made this technology available to many other brands car too. Indeed, some companies began iPod connectors on the seat.
Apple markets its own iPod earphones and properties that are best fit for the ears and provide better sound quality. Since its launch, iPod has been market leader in digital players because of their high quality, aesthetic supreme ease of use. With more money flowing into research every year, there is no reason for this to change.
