Firewire Recording Interface
the creation of monitors to record audio on a laptop?
hi i am currently trying to establish some monitors for me laptop. I will be using Pro Tools for recording and mixing. i 'get a FireWire Audio Interface for recording in the coming days, but just wondered monitor what was going to need to get a decent sound mixing and editing. theres only one rule (I think its 1.5 mm) connector for audio output in my pc at the minute. if i get a good pair of monitors recording, need to be xlr from my laptop? or exit (after recording) runs out of my interface FireWire audio on an XLR connector? any clues?
FireWire Depending on which device you have, you should have available on the device sends for monitors. In smaller devices where real estate and portability are important, they probably will be balanced 1 / 4 "outputs (labeled as CR, the Board of Control or Monitor). Be sure to use good quality, balanced cables when interconnected. As far as monitors are concerned, it becomes a most important issue of what you're trying to accomplish. Cheapy M-Audio or Edirol monitors are not worth the money would be better with your stereo or a good set of headphones. You will not find really accurate monitors that are very, very deep bass (acoustic hiphop, 5-6 bass, string, etc) for under $ 700. However, I am completely happy with my Event ALP 5. They have responded very true and my mixes have improved dramatically since their purchase. I picked up in Sweetwater for about $ 329 with floats for isolation decoupling. Many reviews have said that their performance is far superior in its pricepoint nothing. In my experience, I would have to agree. Also, take into account: end of the monitor in question does not make your music sound good. It is to sound real. You should not buy a Monitor System of thinking that is going to be like buying a Bose (Garbage anyway!), is more like buying a new set of ears. Hope that helps.
