I'm not really sure how old I was when I got the gift for Christmas, but I remember thinking that was a pretty impressive piece of electronics hardware. It was very cool (technologically speaking), and I was very proud to own. Without a doubt, made for a lot funny moments.
What was the high-tech gift, you ask? Why, it was a recorder! It was a reel monograph to reel Tape Deck that comes with its own plug-in microphone. I argue that the MIC to my transistor radio speaker and record songs on the tape. It could also play guitar and sing and record every second of it. I could even hide and record conversations from unsuspecting family members. I was in heaven recording!
Years later I had a deck 8 track stereo recording (ok, that was a mistake). At another point in time I had a Tape Recorder recording physically overlapping stereo tape on one side when finished recording or playback. Now I have a more conventional stereo deck double cassette, but I do not need to record or almost anything else for that matter.
All my recording is now done on my computer. Audio and midi packages available today for computer recording is pretty amazing. You can record multiple tracks, edit recordings and add special effects to your taste. Many of the programs audio recording come with their own native special effects such as reverb, compression, flanger, and chorus, to name a few. Some of the software also Recording can accept third-party effects, such as vocal removers, tube amp effects and many more.
multitrack recording software can record multiple live instruments, vocals, etc, into individual tracks. After recording a track, you can play back while recording another. Once finished, you can mix all individual items down on a stereo track. Some burning programs import and record audio and MIDI, some audio only. If you have a MIDI keyboard or any another MIDI instrument, make sure to choose the software that handles both formats.
The creation of a home studio audio recording simple is easy. Also software, an audio and / or MIDI interface allows you to connect all types of audio components, microphones and instruments into your computer for live recording, recording tape, or even your old vinyl lp. You can also use a home stereo system as an interface for audio components by running cables for from the computer's sound card. A laptop with recording software and a USB interface can serve as a fully portable studio. And again, if you have MIDI instruments, be sure to get an interface that will connect them in addition to audio components and instruments.
The revolution has digital music recording readily accessible to anyone with a computer. If you like music and want to do more than just download the mp3 Internet, get some multitrack recording software and start your own sound studio at home.
