Singing Tips - Choosing the right microphone to make your voice sound better Sound
"I plan to buy a microphone. What kind do you recommend for me? "Well, what are you going to use it? If you plan to use your new microphone on the stage for amplification, you should check "Dynamic cardioid" microphones, such as the Shure SM58 or Shure Beta 58A. These are two of the most popular stage microphones and efficient available, but there are many more. Just go to your local music store and ask questions about "dynamic cardioid" microphones. These microphones are designed specifically for the stage work. They have excellent sound quality, because a lot of comments and speakers are very tough (resistant to damage), and they run generally between $ 100 and $ 300. (The Shure SM58 for $ 100. Or less, and is excellent for stage work.)
Most microphones I discuss can also be found on Ebay at reduced prices.
If you plan to use your microphone to record only would it be wise to seek "condenser" microphones like the Rode NTG-2 or AKG C 2000 B. These are two popular, but inexpensive microphones designed specifically for registration. This type of microphone is not good for stage work because their sensitivity causes a lot of feedback and noise when you move. Condenser microphones are generally more expensive than most dynamic cardioid microphones, but you can buy very good for less than $ 300. Again check Ebay.
If you plan to buy a condenser microphone to record be aware that they need a separate Power Supply not is not always on amplifiers and recorders. Make sure you get one if needed. A staple food should not cost more than $ 20-40 dollars. Your mixer or recorder may have one built in. It would be labeled "ghost".
Some microphones are cardioid dynamic good for both recording and performance. Ask your dealer for a recommendation.
There are microphones available that add Treble brightest to your sound. These work well for the singers with dull or "throat" voice. And there are also microphones that dull the treble and bass. These are good for singers with very bright, "metallic" sound, not rich or organization. I suggest you Google expressions Research such as microphones that enhance acute "or microphones that reduce the treble and bass boost" etc.
Here's a tip: If you have a voice with lots of bass in it, work a little later the microphone. Singing is very close to the microphone head often adds unnecessary cavernous bass. Also, if you a big fat vibrato does not stand too close to the microphone head. Put some distance between you and the microphone. If you are not rich or down to you stand near the microphone element.
There are hundreds of microphones available that meet these two categories. Ask your store clerk to recommend one. If you are not a serious professional you should not spend more than $ 300. of each type of microphone. (Condenser Microphones can cost up to $ 5,000.) Prices microphones in general are not fixed, so check around (including the web) for the best price. About the Author
