Credit Card Dirty Little Secrets
Do you know about credit cards and their dirty little secrets? I make my living knowing about them and I could not answer all the questions in a large survey of PBS Frontline Secret History of Credit Card Credit Card Quiz. UNIVERSAL DEFAULT - Did you know that the credit card company can increase your interest rate if you are late in paying ANY? That applies not only at the end of the credit card, but no! Being late on your phone bill, car, home ... NOTHING. Or if in the eyes of a creditor simply too much outstanding credit, all bets are off regardless of any interest rate has signed a.
The logic is simple. The industry believes it is in their right to protect their interests in a company of higher-risk loans without collateral. No other industry can do this but the credit card company.
Usury or NOT - According to Frontline, "There is no federal limit on the rate of interest on the credit card company can charge." In fact, an interest rate of 35% is not unknown. This is because in the 1980s in South Dakota and Delaware eliminated the cap on usury laws which is what is the maximum allowable interest charge. Have you ever noticed the return address on your credit card? More likely is that Delaware or South Dakota. Gee, I wonder why.
Deadbeats and revolvers - Usage in the sense of Deadbeat someone who is not taking responsible action. This is not true in the reverse of the credit industry. In the jargon of card bill credit, "Deadbeats" pay their balances off in full each month. They are deadbeats because the industry receives a benefit of these consumers were least responsible. "But this has opened a Pandora's box, not only for late fees, but over the limit fees and bad check fees as well. A lawyer who worked Smiley in the case says he believes that use penalty fees is $ 5 or $ 10 could reach $ 50 in a year. However, not the consumer should only deal with a higher rate, but late fees as well. Furthermore, what if these fees that exceed the limit of the creation of yet another fee. MINIMUM PAYMENT - Consumers used to be required to pay 5% of the outstanding balance. But spot credit card vendors suggested applying a 2% minimum required payment. Current Senators and Congress and other advocates of consumer credit has tried unsuccessfully to pass legislation to overcome some of these deficiencies. Unfortunately, even the prohibition of credit application of the university campus and dissemination of simple statements to pass to defeat a very powerful lobbyists credit. Let your Congress know how you feel about a simple statement below the amount of the payment of low water with some like: "With a minimum payment, your current debt will take years xxx for pay and the cost for you in the interest will be $ xxx."
