He claims copyright and changes to the law with respect to damage hip hop sampling?
And the damage is acceptable in your opinion? Obviously, had PE (for example) had to pay for all the samples used in the nation of millions, the album never would have done. But do you think you is a small price to pay to the artists get paid when their samples are used or sampling you should be free anyway?
Yes I read in a magazine that people are becoming less, because sampling is not as easy to get samples cleared, and the samples are more expensive than ever. It's like $ 10,000 to clear a sample. And companies that have royalties and shares of the songs tend to be stingy in sharing with others. Damage is not acceptable because hip hop has been built out of sampling. While original beats are nice to hear from time to time, creativity is essential to hip hop. No signs, only lame generic rhythms, you can see happening right now with the state of hip hop. Of course I do not think sampling should be free, because that is someone else's work, so only use it as a desire to be like plagirizing almost. I do however believe that there should be so expensive to buy samples. At least $ 1,000 for a good example is the IMO. The people who have the original song need some credit too.
